Beyoncé Releases Empowering New Song "Spirit", Original Song From The Lion King

Beyoncé didn't just gift us with fabulous fashion this week, she has also gifted us with a new gospel-inspired anthem. Timed to coincide with the world premiere of The Lion King, the singer who voices Nala for the film, dropped her new single "Spirit" late last night.

The new track from Queen Bey is inspiring and will make you feel empowered to overcome any obstacle. The uplifting song reminds us that we are part of something greater and that when we think we are at our lowest if we keep pushing we can achieve our destiny. "Your destiny is coming close, stand up and fight"

"Spirit" is the first single to be released from the film's upcoming companion album but is not the only song being voiced by Beyoncé for The Lion King. The songstress also lends her voice to the classic "Can You Feel The Love Tonight," singing along with castmate Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) who voices Simba in the Live Action version of Disney's The Lion King on the upcoming film's soundtrack. Elton John wrote and sung the award-winning song in the original movie.

The Lion King: The Gift, the movie's companion album, will likely have other touches of Beyoncé as she is producing it. It will feature global artists and like "Spirit" will be infused with the sounds of Africa. The album, curated by Bey, will be released the same day the new film hits theatres.

The new version of The Lion King directed by Jon Favreau will be released in theatres Friday, July 19.
