"SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING" Official Trailer Is full of Action and Teenage Angst #SpiderManHomecoming

December 12, 2016

Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is back! Sony Pictures has released the first official Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer, providing a closer look at the collaboration between Sony and Marvel. The trailer shows Peter Parker (Tom Holland) dealing with life as a teenager (high school, girls, etc.) while also wanting to be a hero.

We first saw Tom Holland's Spider-Man last summer in the blockbuster movie Captain America: Civil War. The young superhero was recruited by Tony Stark as a member of Team Iron Man when loyalty to friendship caused division within the Avengers. The new trailer shows Stark's continued mentoring relationship with Peter as he gives the junior hero somewhat vague advice about what to do and what not to do.

Like many teenagers, Peter, ignores Stark's suggestions to lay low and goes up against villains such as The Vulture (Michael Keaton) while dealing with normal teenage life. This iteration of Spider-Man is fresh and the footage in the trailer has us intrigued about what is to come in both Spidey's solo movie as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole.

In addition to Tom Holland reprising his role as Spider-Man, Marisa Tomei returns as Aunt May, and Robert Downey Jr. makes an appearance as Tony Stark. The film also stars Micahel Keaton, Bokeem Woodbine, Donald Glover, Hannibal Buress, Abraham Attah, Martin Starr, Tony Revolori, Michael Barbieri, Angourie Rice, and Zendaya.

Official Synopsis of Spider-Man: Homecoming by Sony

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into cinemas July 7, 2017.
