NEW TRAILER: The Sherlock Special

October 07, 2015

Sherlock and John Watson

BBC released a new trailer for the upcoming Sherlock Special, which will air later this year. Fans of the program, like me, will enjoy this tasty Sherlock morsel as they wait for the main course.

In the special Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch), John Watson (Martin Freeman), and friends go back in time to Nineteenth century England. The trailer shows a more refined Sherlock wearing the character's signature deerstalker hat. John has a mustache again and Victorian era Lestrade (Rupert Graves) is giving us a whole lotta sideburns.

Why is the Sherlock Special not set in modern times? Do we care? Well, I hope you don't want a detailed logical answer because you won't get one. Here is the answer the show's executive producer Steven Moffat gave Entertainment Weekly. "We never bother to explain why Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are in the modern world in the normal series; why should we bother explaining now that we're back in Victorian times?"

Want more Sherlock? Check out Mark Gatiss on 'Who do you think you are?' on 8 October 21:00 in the UK (4:00 PM ET US) on BBC One for a sneak peak behind the scenes.

The Sherlock Special will air for Christmas giving us just enough to make it to 2016 and series 4 of Sherlock.
