In 2019, franchise reboots aren't a new concept in show business but nostalgia and mining the goldmine that is the '90s has become big business in film and television.

Netflix has released its latest and probably final trailer for Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling, the revival of the former Nickelodeon cartoon series that went off the air in 1996, a 22-year hiatus.

'I don't think we're in the '90s anymore'

After spending 20 years in space, Rocko and his friends return to a technologically advanced O-Town and make it their mission to get his favorite show back on the air. The trailer gives us a look into some of the challenges and tappings Rocko and his friends face as they adjust to life in the 21st century. Rocko's friends become obsessed with the newest smartphones while Rocko seems out of place.

Official Synopsis

After being in space for around 20 years, Rocko and his friends attempt to conform to an even more modern life in O-Town, where coffee shops are on every corner, food trucks offer multi-layered tacos, touch-screen O-Phones are being upgraded on a near-constant basis, an instant-print kiosk has replaced Rocko's old job at Kind-of-a-Lot-O-Comics, and radioactive energy drinks turn their consumers into mutants.

Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling hits Netflix on August 9.
