Fantastic Beasts Logo Unveiled

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Warner Bros. has unveiled the logo for upcoming film trilogy Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This prequel which takes place 70 years before the Harry Potter stories is based on the 2001 book of the same name by J. K. Rowling chronicling magical creatures in the Wizarding World.
The typography of the Fantastic Beasts logo is Potteresque but definitely brings a new element. The embossed metallic typography definitely evokes the Harry Potter logo. The focal point of the logo which noticeably resembles a dragon or snake. I'm thinking maybe a basilisk. The other letters of the logo are also given beastly embellishments to round out the look.

When asked about the beasts that inspired the logo, the designers remained pretty tight-lipped but did tell Pottermore, "...the 'S' was inspired by a creature that does appear in the film. The logo is a blend of beasts, it's not just one takeaway. When we arrived on [an] idea for the 'S' it excited us. So we thought there must be a way to accent these other letters with claws or ribs - hints to other beasts, while this one is the logo's centerpiece."

Fantastic Beasts is set in 1920's New York and follows the adventures of "magizoologist" Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), the wizard who penned the Hogwarts textbook. Colin Farrell and John Voight are also part of the cast.

Here are the logos. What do you think?
