Black Girls Rock! hosts Regina King and Tracee Ellis Ross
Last night while watching BET (Black Entertainment Television) I repeatedly heard a message that I don't hear very often, Black Girls Rock! This awards show celebrated the positive efforts and effective change that black girls and black women are making in their communities and throughout the world. It also included some amazing artistic performances and fierce fashion.

Black Girls Rock! Inc. is a non-profit organization created by Beverly Bond to empower young women of color by helping to build their self-esteem and sense of self-worth, as well as promote their involvement in the arts.To join in the movement visit the Black Girls Rock! website.

As a dancer I enjoyed seeing Misty Copeland honored as well as her wonderful performance.
 It was great to see the Girlfriends back together again to honor producer, writer, and business woman Mara Brock-Akil.
