HELLO SWEETIE - RIVER SONG RETURNS TO DOCTOR WHO

river song returns for christmas special

Christmas comes twice this year! Well, I feel like I've gotten an early Christmas present at least. "Christmas in September? Why Not!"

Alex Kingston is coming back to Doctor Who for the 2015 Christmas special. Kingston will reprise her role as Professor River Song. The twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi, meets his wife this Christmas.

Kingston told BBC: "To be honest, I did not know whether River would ever return to the show, but here she is, back with the Doctor for the Christmas special. Steven Moffat is on glittering form, giving us an episode filled with humor and surprise guest castings. I met Peter for the first time at Monday's read through, we had a laugh, and I am now excited and ready to start filming with him and the Doctor Who team..."

Lead writer and executive producer, Steve Moffat, had this to add: "Another Christmas, another special for Doctor Who - and what could be more special than the return of Alex Kingston as Professor River Song? The last time the Doctor saw her she was a ghost. The first time he met her, she died. So how can he be seeing her again? As ever, with the most complicated relationship in the universe, it's a matter of time...

Filming begins this week for the special episode which was written by Steven Moffat, directed by Douglas McKinnon, and produced by Nikki Wilson.

Last year's Christmas special threatened to be the last for Clara Oswald and the Doctor. I can't wait to see what the 2015 Christmas special brings.

The Doctor Who Christmas special episode will premiere on Christmas day in the U.S. on BBC America.

Doctor Who returns for Series 9 on September 19 at 9/8c on BBC America.
