Jenna Coleman Will Return as Doctor Who's Companion

November 29, 2014

Jenna Coleman, who was expected to be saying her goodbyes to the Time Lord and his TARDIS during the Christmas special, has had a "change of heart".

Last August news broke that Doctor Who would be searching for a new companion for Peter Capaldi's Doctor, because 28-year old Coleman had decided that it was the right time to leave the show.

Over the past few weeks BBC released promotional materials for the Doctor Who Christmas special, Last Christmas, seemingly confirming to fans that this would indeed be Clara and the Doctor's last time together.

Now, according to the Daily Mirror, Coleman will return as The Doctor's assistant, Clara Oswald, for the first half of the next installment of the sci-fi series.

The British newspaper reported that Coleman "changed her mind" and didn't want to leave the show "having done just one series with Capaldi. Now that her character will be returning, the script and storyline leading to her original exit had to be overhauled. A source told the newspaper that, "When it came to Clara, they had to tear them up and start again..."

The duo, Coleman and Capaldi have had great chemistry on the show. I, for one, am thrilled that Coleman will be continuing her adventures on the TARDIS. She has played the companion for two series thus far and will be one of the longest serving companions of the modern series.

The holiday special titled Last Christmas, will air on Christmas Day
